The work presents the results of the field research of deadwood that was observed in the Mlynická dolina valley in the High Tatras. The purpose of this work was to map and evaluate lying and standing dead wood on eight research plots with a total area of 2 hectares in the surveyed area and to compare the obtained data with other similar forest communities. The observed characteristics included type of wood, its diameter, length and degree of decay. The result is a summary of volume, structure, number of stems, diameter distribution, and the shape of deadwood fragments. In total, 342 pieces of deadwood with an average volume of 140.83 m3.ha-1 were recorded.
