This diploma thesis is focused on assessment of species diversity and ecological requirements of wood-decaying fungi in proposed nature reserve Dolný Chlm in Kremnické vrchy mountains. So far, this is the first complex mycological survey on the site. During the 2017, we established 6 temporary research plots and conducted the research of macrofungi on dead wood troughout the year. We examined the species diversity of wood-decaying fungi as well as the dimensions and decay stage of dead wood colonised by fungi. Out of the 113 species of macrofungi determined, 5 species belong to the Red list of Slovak fungi, 4 species are proposed to the IUCN Red list of fungi and 15 species belong to the lists of indicator species of virgin beech and fir forests. According to our results, the majority of indicator species observed on the site prefers the dead wood in advanced stage of decay, i. e. class 4 and 5 from Heilmann-Clausen, Christensen (2003) classification and the diameter of logs higher than 40 cm. The preservation of the area, amount of dead wood of different sizes and decay stages provide the chance to explore rare, and due to biotop loss also endangered mycoflora. The area of proposed nature reserve therefore deserves protection.
