The presented bachelor thesis deals with quality evaluation of two surface treatments (polyurethane and oil) suitable for floors and stairs. Surface treatments were made on beech bodies. Appointed physical-mechanical properties of the following surface treatments have been determined: the thickness of the paint film by a destructive method, test of rapid deformation, impact resistance test, test by a falling weight, test with small-area rotating body determination of abrasion resistance, an alternate panel test method with a disks covered with abrasive papers, determination of hardness by pencil, testing by a grid cut, cold fluid resistance was also evaluated. Despite the coarser layer of PUR coating film, the OIL surface finish had a better adhesion. Even in impact resistance, the OIL surface finish had better results, even if only one degree of damage. The hardness of the coating film has both the same surface finish and the hardness level 11. The cold-resistance test has also been tested. Both coatings only disrupted ethanol, grade 4 film damage.
