The thesis deals with possibilities of increasing the lifetime of selected components used in forestry technologies that are subject to abrasive wear. The main aim of the thesis was theoretically and practically verify the possibility of increasing the life of the selected component - the directional pulley. Two pulleys were produced, one without heat treatment, and the other according to the material sheet designed a suitable heat treatment regime. On samples from both pulleys, we have all the necessary tests and analyzes. We put the two pulleys into operation and after a certain amount of time we performed the re-tests to compare the values. In the end, we evaluated the results of the experiment and made conclusions for the practice.
