This bachelor thesis focuses the valid legislation in the flood protection sphere in the Slovak Republic. The aim of this bachelor thesis was to introduce the current situation in the Komárno municipality and its nearest surroundings flood protection sphere. A partial objective of the thesis was to identify strengths and weaknesses of the systems assessed and to propose ways to cope with the problems identified. To meet the defined objectives, the scientific methods like historical method, information and knowledge summarising and synthesis, steered interviews with experts from the Slovak Water Management Enterprise, S.E., District Directorate of the Fire and Rescue Service in Komárno and Kománo Municipality Office. The output of bachelor thesis tackling is introduction of the current situation in flood protection of Komárno District Administration, as from legislation, institution, personal, material, technical and financial point of view; and identification of strengths and weaknesses of this system.
