The floating of timber in Slovakia can boast a rich and interesting history.On the territory of Slovakia, this way of transporting wood is a thing of the past.Nevertheless, it has been intensively used for more than 1000 years. By advancing technical progress, floating of timber has replaced other more modern ways of transporting wood. This is not true in the world. In this work, we have focused on describing a brief history of wood felling in Slovakia. With an emphasis on riverswhere plutonium was carried out mainly in the spring after the snow melted.Furthermore, the bachelor's thesis solves the problems of wood flooding in the world atpresent. We have focused on countries where this mode of transport is still being used. In the last chapters of the paper we studied the influence of wood floating on the current ways of transporting wood. Using the skid principle in a modern and inovated form.
