Zdenko MIHÁLIK: Bachelor Thesis, Influence of different type and degree of thinning on beech trees structure - Technical University in Zvolen, Faculty of Forestry, Department of Silviculture, Advisor: prof. Ing. Milan Saniga DrSc. Degree of professional qualification: bachelor. City: Zvolen, TUZVO, LF, 2018, 63 pages. The thesis addresses the issue of the development of homogeneous and even-aged beech stands in the growth phase of stick up to thin stemwood. The object of the research is the complex of beech stands in the forest complex Ráztočno - II., District Prievidza. The main aim of the work was to analyse the knowledge concerning the effect of crown thinning with a positive selection on the quality structure of beech stands. Part of the solution is the establishment of two series of 6 permanent research areas (TVP) where, in addition to the control (area without thinning), the Schädelin’s thinning of the target trees and Korpeľ's rationalization crown thinning of the target trees with the second degree of intervention was used. The thesis analyzes the structure of selected forest stands, dynamics of natural processes and influence of the selected thinning intervention on the remaining beech stand. The aim of the thesis is to determine the optimal type and level of the thinning for the selected beech stand under the specific ecological conditions for maximum utilization of the production and non-production potential of the economic forest and to propose their application in forestry practice.
