The bachelor thesis is focused on the complex material research of components discarded from two historical clock mechanisms. The aim of thesis is to extend the knowledge of materials and technologies used in the 17th and 18th century by tower – clock makers. The materials used in the research were analyzed by using both mechanical and chemical tests. In order of comparison to the original components, we also examined materials used to reconstruct both clock mechanisms. We found that the original components are made mostly by hand forging. However, their material is heavily polluted by various impurities. Nevertheless, the components are very precisely manufactured. For further reconstructions of the clock in the future, we suggest using materials similar to the original ones. It is also appropriate for the new components to be made in a way that guarantees authentic appearance and does not disturb the authenticity of the mechanisms.
