The topic of so called ̎green economics" lately gains a significant amount of attention not only in politics, economy and ecology, but also in general as a matter of interests of the public. UN's Enviromental report (2011) describes green economics as a type of economics, that leads towards the betterment of human well-being and social capital, considering the current state of constantly lowered ecological risks for the enviroment. The goal of this thesis is to evaluate the past development as well as the current state of Slovak republic towards transformating the green growth on the basis of selected green growth indicators and also describe the goals and the results of these efforts in Slovakia. Thesis also defines the basic terms, such as green economics, green growth, sustainable development and explains the importance of green economics, it's goals and tools. The practical part contains identification of the chosen indicators needed for analysis and also their application. Summarized results as well as evaluated current state can be found in the final part of this thesis. Slovak republic, in comparison with other European states, records a much slower pace of applicating these changes and therefore the goals and readiness of Slovakia drag behind other European states.
