The aim of this diploma thesis was to monitor the influence of selected technical and technological parameters of the machining process on the quality of the surface created by milling operation. In the study, the reduction and sliding speed parameters were chosen as factors influencing the roughness and waviness of the created surface. An oak furniture dimensional lumber was chosen to be the machined material, which was machined by single bladed shank cutter on a CNC machining centre. Surface quality in research was generally perceived as a change in ruggedness, roughness and waviness of the surface. Surface irregularity was evaluated based on the information obtained with a laser profilemeter, which reads the character of the sample surface and the parameters of the primary, roughness and waviness profile. On the basis of the values obtained, a statistical analysis was carried out, which pointed to some relations between the chosen factors. Our research confirmed the statistical significance of the influence of the sliding speed on the roughness profile as well as the waviness profile. Reduction is not a significant factor influencing the character of roughness and waviness profile.
