Zvolen: TU, 2017, 50 pp. The aim of the thesis is to charakterize the active and passsive operations of commercial banks and to compare the products of selected banks in the Slovak Republic. The thesis is divided into several chapters. In the first chapter, we analyze the financial and banking system and banks. Moreover, the central bank as the most important institution in terms of its position and its role in the banking system is mentioned there. The second chapter is focused on the active operations of commercial banks, especially on the classification credit products of banks. Alternative forms of financing including leasing, factoring and forfeiting are characterised in this chapter as well. In the third chapter, passive operations of commercial banks associated with all transactions useful fort the bank in the order to acquire funds such as foreign capital are described. Commercial bank acquires foreign resources through deposit banking operations and loans from other banks, which are described in more detail as well. Provision of loans for young people in the selected banks in the Slovak Republic are compared in the final chapter of the thesis.
