The diploma thesis deals with the influence of the false core of beech for drying and drying quality. The diploma thesis consists of two parts, both theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, literary knowledge about wood beech forest, red false heartwood, drying process and color changes are processed. In the practical part, we compare the properties between the mature wood zone and the red false heartwood at three temperatures. Moisture content, density, drying time were determined. We also observed the size of the case hardening with use the fork test, rez test and the color changes. These properties were measured before drying and after drying process. We could observe the temperature differences between the mature wood zone and the red false heartwood zone, as well as between the temperatures themselves.
